I know everyone says this but I genuinely have been meaning to write this blog post for a few weeks now. Mainly as television commercials annoy me (but that is a whole other post).
Ok here is the deal, I think that a number of television commercials have been stealing ideas from online sources. This was first brought to my attention when I saw the current Berocca advertisement one evening. If you havent seen the advert here it is…..

So it pictures a number of individuals galavanting upon treadmills. This bears an uncanny resemblance to the Viral smash “OK Go – Here It Goes Again” and their video.

As you can see this has been viewed by over 46 million people. Therefore there guys at Berocca knew through creative copying that their commerical would be a success, viral campaigns are now shaping commercials.
Another example of this is the current FreeSat television commercial. Again one evening I was chilling on the sofa and the commercial came on, I was insensed and said to my housemates that I am going to blog about this!Again if you havent seen the commercial, take a look here…

If you have never seen ‘Noah Everyday’ then this current FreeSat commercial will not have the same affect on you. I had a inkling a few years ago that this concept may be adopted on a more commercial level, as it is so simple yet so effective. Well take a look at this first…

So on the turn of the millennium Noah decided that it would be good to take a photo of himself everyday. So he now has a visual montage of himself and his evolution, pretty cool, hey?
Television commercials are drawing ideas from thier online counterparts….will this creative copying trend continue?
